“He/She comes home”
Giiwe, embodies the essence of our mission – to bring the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation community back to its roots, heritage, and cultural identity. Giiwe is a place where our children can connect with their heritage, where our community can come together, and where reconciliation can be nurtured through shared understanding.
We invite you to join us on this journey to create a beacon of hope, a sanctuary of learning, and a home for healing.
A Catalyst
For Change
A welcoming and inclusive space, here stories of the past will echo through the halls and the promise of the future will be nurtured every day.
Supporting the Giiwe Heritage Hub offers a unique opportunity for donors to see their reconciliation efforts come to life in a tangible way. More than just a place; Giiwe will be a living, breathing embodiment of reconciliation, where the impact of your contributions can be seen, felt, and experienced.
Community Offerings:
Collaboration and
Community Involvement
Everyone in the community will play a role in shaping and running the Hub. A collective effort, it will reflect our voices, needs, and aspirations, ensuring it truly represents our shared spirit and values.
Child and
Youth-Centred
Reflecting our commitment to being child and youth-centred, Giiwe will help the youngest members build a strong connection to heritage and culture, fostering identity and pride from an early age.
Cultural
Preservation
Giiwe will preserve our ancestral knowledge through a museum and the repatriation of artifacts. It will strengthen cultural knowledge, support Anishinaabemowin speakers, and provide space for Nation governance, distinguishing cultural practices from heritage.
Belonging and
Cultural Reconnection
The Hub will help youth and the community reconnect with their heritage, fostering healing and pride. Activities will include cultural ceremonies, nature connection, land-based practices, and wigwam building.
Employment Opportunities
and Economic Impact
The Hub will create jobs and promote tourism, supporting cultural preservation and economic development. Roles will include workshop facilitators, tour guides, art vendors, maintenance staff, and venue managers, providing vital economic benefits to the community.
